Upcoming books

As a group we selected the next four books. Just so that everyone can have enough time to get them, pass them around, pretend to read them, or whatever people choose to do with the monthly book.

We will continue to meet at Tina P's home at 8 pm, with varying dates.

This is what's on the fall/winter agenda:

September: 'Girl in Hyacinth Blue', by Susan Vreeland (September 27)
October: 'Heaven Help Us', by Kari J. Rich (October 25)
November: 'The Glass Castle', by Jeanette Walls (November 27)
December/January: 'Les Miserables' the abridged version, by Victor Hugo (January 24)

There was a suggestion made in regards to our December reading. If you would also like to read 'A Christmas Carol', by Charles Dickens, it would add to the daily festivities of the month.

Summer Reading

With all of our busy summer schedules we decided to take July off. We will meet again on Thursday August 30, 8 pm, at Tina's home. The night's agenda will include discussing 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' by Seth Grahame-Smith, and deciding on upcoming books to read this fall.

Hope to see you there!

This month's book is 'Moon Over Manifest', by Clare Vanderpool. The book is set during the depression era.

(Abilene Tucker feels abandoned by her father. He is off to work for a railroad and has sent her to live with a pastor in the town of Manifest, KS. She quickly meets friends and stumbles on a mysterious cigar box full of letters from the past. Hoping that the letters help her get to know her father better, she is off to unravel the mysteries of Manifest.)

There are several books at the library. It is a quick read. I am a slow reader and have read up to fifty pages in a day.

Come discuss thoughts and feelings about the book and enjoy a night out with ladies and treats!

We will get together June 21 @ 8pm @ Tina P.'s home.

Anyone is welcome!
